Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association president Philip Ella Juico said this after he confirmed that Singapore and Indonesia will bring in athletes who are going to see action in the 28th Southeast Asian Games.

Juico believes the presence of Asia’s best tracksters will test the mettle of local bets, who are after slots to the national squad, which will be sent to the SEA Games as well.

“We expect the competitions to be tough. Magkakasubukan sila dito. And it will be a preview of the Southeast Asian Games,” said Juico during yesterday’s weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the Shakey’s Pizza Restaurant in Malate, Manila.

Among the countries sending athletes are are Malaysia, Sabah, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Brunei, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
