PH volleyball body defiant

THE Philippine Volleyball Federation will continue taking care of its responsibilities as a national body for the sport.

PVF president Karl Chan said this after the embattled federation pushed through with its election and named new members to its board of administration last Sunday.

He said all the programs they have mapped out for the rest of the year, including the formation and training of the national men’s and women’s squads will go on unhampered, even without the support of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the government.

“Tuloy pa rin ang programa,” said Chan in a phone interview with Manila Standard Today.

He said the national teams will conduct their daily trainings at the Arellano Law School gymnasium in Taft Ave., under men’s coach Ogie Mamon, and women’s mentor Ramil de Jesus.

The national squads cannot train at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex since they don’t have the green light from the Philippine Sports Commission.

During polls held at the Philippine Navy Golf Club in Taguig, Chairman Boy Cantada was once again named to the nine-man board, which will choose from among themselves the new officers of the association, including the president, chairman, and secretary general.
