NIETO twins Mike and Matthew joined hands with Jollo Mendoza in the second period as the Ateneo Blue Eaglets came away with an 83-66 beating of University of the Philippines Integrated School Saturday in the 77th University Athletic Association of the Philippines junior basketball tournament.
Mike Nieto shot 16 points, while his brother Matthew had 16 for the Blue Eaglets, who soared to their 12th straight win at the Blue Eagle gym in Katipunan Ave., Quezon City. This kept the Blue Eaglets on course for an automatic finals berth, which will be theirs if Ateneo sweeps its 14-game assignment.
National University (9-3) bounced back from three successive losses with a 75-52 stopping of University of the East.
Mark Dyke banged in 23 points for the Bullpups, who picked up their first win.
