Oliver Victor B. Amoroso

Amoroso, who’s been with the network for the past 16 years, played a vital role in bringing the country’s leading broadcast network closer to the regions. As the head of GMA Regional TV (RTV), he is in charge of the operations, content and production, and business development of the department, including its regional stations and offices located in North Central Luzon (GMA Dagupan and GMA Ilocos Stations), Southern Luzon (GMA Bicol Station), Central and Eastern Visayas (GMA Cebu Station), Western Visayas (GMA Iloilo and GMA Bacolod Stations), Northern Mindanao (GMA Cagayan de Oro Station), Southern Mindanao (GMA Davao Station), and South Central Mindanao (GMA General Santos Station).

Amoroso leads the dynamic team that produces groundbreaking and award-winning local news programs and specials attuned to stories, voices, and viewership of Filipinos in the regions – bannered by  GMA  RTV’s roster of unified flagship weekday news programs namely  Balitang Amianan  in North Central Luzon,  Balitang Bicolandia  in Bicol,  Balitang Bisdak  in Central and Eastern Visayas,  One Western Visayas  in Western Visayas,  One Mindanao  in North, Central, South Central and Southern Mindanao.

Staying true to  GMA  RTV’s ‘Local News Matters’ campaign,  Amoroso  is also the executive-in-charge of the Saturday national newscast  GMA  Regional TV Weekend News  on  GMA  News TV.  He also oversees GMA’s flagship morning shows in different regions.

Enabling viewers to access local news in various communities outside Metro Manila, the  GMA  RTV newscasts and mornings shows that Amoroso and his team are producing tallied a combined reach of about 64 percent of all TV households throughout the country, with an estimated total of 46.8 million viewers, based on Nielsen Phils. TV Audience Measurement’s Total Philippines data (January to December 2020).

Under his leadership,  GMA  RTV has earned several recognitions including the “Best Regional TV Network” in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 at the Platinum Stallion Media Awards; and was honored as the ‘Most Development-oriented TV Station’ at the Gandingan 2018: The 12th UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Multi-media Awards.

In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Amoroso was selected as a distinct member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Health Service Command Transformation Roadmap (AFPHSCTR) Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB) that provides expert advice in the implementation of the AFPHSCTR.

Amoroso and his group actively sought ways to help fellow Filipinos by reaching out to thousands of families in various barangays across the country to distribute essential items and conducted lectures on proper health protocols through RTV’s “Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels.”

Being the concurrent Head of GMA  Synergy, Amoroso also leads the group that  handles the network’s sports partnerships and production including GMA’s coverage of the upcoming seasons of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). His Synergy group also  produces ticketed events and other key network initiatives— including the highly-successful Alden’s Reality, the Philippines’ first-ever virtual reality concert held in December 2020.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Silliman University and is now finishing his postgraduate studies at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
