GMA Network brings back the well-loved TV adaptation of the 1989 award-winning blockbuster movie by Regal Films Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit on the Afternoon Prime block beginning today.

After several months of hiatus, the star-studded cast offer their loyal fans a recap of the heartwarming series that they have consistently followed since its pilot airing. Meanwhile, its much-awaited all-new episodes are set to air starting January.

The drama series is top-billed by Nora Aunor as Mercedes “Cedes” dela Cruz. Playing equally important roles are Mylene Dizon as Magnolia “Nolie” dela Cruz and Kyline Alcantara as Maggie dela Cruz.

THREE GENERATIONS. Superstar Nora Aunor with drama gems Mylene Dizon and Kyline Alcantara.

Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit follows the story of Cedes, Nolie, and Maggie – three generations of women who will take on a quest to pursue their dreams and to avenge the indignities they suffered from those who have wronged them.

Completing the powerhouse cast are Zoren Legaspi as Anselmo, Gabby Eigenmann as Arthur, Ina Feleo as Margaux, Yasser Marta as Jun, Divina Valencia as Editha, Candy Pangilinan as Connie, and Isabel Rivas as Martina.

Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit also features the special participation of Ricky Davao as Damian, calm and charitable husband of Cedes; and Dante Rivero as Ramon, Martina’s successful husband.

As the series airs anew, the cast members expressed what they think about returning on air, how they feel about working in the new normal, and what’s in store for the Kapuso viewers in the coming episodes.

In a virtual interview with Manila Standard Entertainment Mylene shares what she appreciates most about working in the new normal, “We’re in a lock-in taping and woking together everyday, so it’s easier to stay in character. And we’re able to finish our task in a given timeframe. And this new normal taping gave us, the cast, more time to bond.”

“This new way of doing things is really challenging. The entire script was given to us and we had to study it. But this experience made us cast members much closer to one another and we’re able to help each other out,” Kyline adds.

Meanwhile, Zoren feels fortunate and at ease to have worked in a safe location, “Even before the pandemic, I’m very careful in following health protocols. This time, everyone on the set had their swab test. For me, it’s a safe environment but we still have to be cautious.

Yasser also reveals having to study their script religiously every day, “The scenes now are more challenging, thanks to our director. Everyday bago matulog at paggising nag-aaral po talaga kami ng script.”

On the one hand, Candy is elated for viewers to witness the continuation of the story, “Excited to share what we all worked for. Excited to know how people will respond to our hard work, the fruit of our teamwork.”

Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit is directed by Laurice Guillen.
