Singing through the pandemic

Singer Irelyn Arana is part of the growing roster of NVP (Nick Vera Perez) artists. A balladeer by heart, she prefers pop and “slow songs” as she calls them. No wonder, she adores the singing style of the Philippine’s one and only Superstar Nora Aunor.

NVP prized artist Irelyn Arana

“She sings so clean like my other idol, then international singer, Karen Carpenter. I also love the singing style of Gary Valenciano. He sings with so much emotions,” Irelyn said.

Irelyn is all praises to his manager-discoverer, Total International Entertainer Nick Vera Perez, for his all-out support to attain her ultimate dream of becoming a singer.

NVP, the US-based registered nurse and successful crooner decided to form his own pool of talents, the NVP1 World Entertainment, to support him in his gigs and concerts, and to showcase Filipino talents in the US. Irelyn is one of his prized discoveries.

According to the singer, she has been singing since grade school and has joined various competitions.

“The last competition I joined was WCOPA 2016 where I became multi-medalist and semi-finalist in vocal solo,” Irelyn reminisced with a smile.

Her family and friends were supportive of her budding singing career then. But studies and other responsibIlities came on the way and singing has to take a backseat. Then she pursued her American dream by working as a nurse in the land of milk and honey while fulfilling her role in the family back in the Philippines as the breadwinner.

“Eventually, I had my own family and I tasked myself, as any loving mother would, to bring up the kids properly. So I waited until everybody else in the family fulfilled their dreams before I could pursue my own which is to become a singer,” Irelyn explains.

There may be many singers around, with really good and exemplary talents. Irelyn believes in honing one’s talent and never comparing herself to others.

“Do not think that you are better than others or that others are better than you. We are all unique in a very special way. That’s how God created us. We really have to be thankful and appreciate what we have,” he stresses.

So at this time of the pandemic, together with NVP and his other talents, Irelyn intends to sing more and entertain others — be it live or virtual performances.

“Pandemic or not, we should continue to sing, entertain and inspire others,” she ends.
