In the ‘90s, Filipino bands undoubtedly ruled the airwaves, released hit songs and dominated the musical landscape of the time. Heralded as the most prolific era for bands in the Philippines, the music of the nineties continues to bridge the generations, up to this day, ringing loud and clear in the ears of listeners, both young and old alike.

On Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, four male vocalists from that illustrious period will come together in a two-night concert, 90s Frontmen Acousticized. Jett Pangan of The Dawn, Dong Abay ofYano, Basti Artadi of Wolfgang and Wency Cornejo of AfterImage will perform together onstage for the first time.

The two-night concert happens at the Music Museum and promises a nostalgic return to the music the four male artists created nearly three decades ago.

Jett is the charismatic lead singer of Filipino rock band, The Dawn, considered to be one of the most respected artists in the Philippines. The group is known for such hit songs as “Enveloped Ideas,” “Salamat,” “Love (Will Set Us Free)’ and “Isang Bangka Tayo.”

Dong is the former lead singer of the alternative rock band, Yano, formed in 1992. After the group members parted ways in 1997, the eccentric vocalist went solo and performed with his group, DAMO (Dong Abay Music Organization). His timeless rock classics from the nineties include “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo,” “Tsinelas” and “Esem.”

Basti provided lead vocals for the heavy rock band, Wolfgang. Known for releasing their albums internationally, scoring platinum sales in the late nineties, Wolfgang came up with such hits as “Darkness Fell,” “Center of the Sun” and the head-banging classic, “Halik ni Hudas.”

Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Wency Cornejo and former vocalist of the After Image Band, is the unmistakable voice of such gigantic hits as “Habang May Buhay,” “Mangarap Ka,” “Next in Line” and “Tag-ulan.” After going solo in 1997, Wency released his own albums in the 2000s and achieved hits like “Magpakailanman” and “Hanggang.”
