Mallgoers recently had the rare opportunity to has a glimpse of the contemporary French music scene when French musician Charles Baptiste performed live at SM Aura Premier.
The event was a collaboration between Alliance Française de Manille, the Embassy of France in Manila, Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie as part of the Francophonie celebrations.
The International Francophonie Day is an annual celebration of the birth of the Intergovernmental Francophonie cooperation. Francophonie is the term used to refer to all people and countries speaking the French language, and Francophonie Day celebrates the French language and the values of the French speaking countries around the world.
Charles Baptiste showcased his talent in a series of piano and vocal performances which included his original songs such as “En route pour l’oscar,’’ ‘‘Aussi cool que toi,’’ and ‘‘Dans ma chambre d’adolescent,’’ among others. He also performed his rendition of the French song ‘‘Voyage voyage’’ by Desireless and ‘‘Get Lucky’’ by Daft Punk. The show wowed the shoppers of SM Aura Premier as Charles Baptiste’s upbeat and French pop music is not commonly heard in the Philippines.
The event is also held in partnership with authentic French restaurant, La Mère Poulard, for Goût de France in celebration of French gastronomy.
