Carlo Aquino to sparkle and shine in ‘Liwanag’ concertLittle did many people know that Carlo Aquino grew up in a musical family. Carlo himself fell in love with music at an early age of seven and grew up to the songs of Matt Monro and other artists like The Beatles and BeeGees.

“My family is a music-oriented. My dad sings and I grew up listening to his favorite songs, like ‘Born Free.’ My brother, who is a band member, thought me how to play the guitar but I really had a hard time learning it because I’m left-handed,” Carlo shared.

Now, people will see the other side of Carlo—a singer and a musician—in a major concert billed Liwanag. The title of the show is inspired by his middle name.

‘‘Liwanag, came from my mom whose maiden name is Amelia Liwanag. Also, in this concert, the director said the audiences will see me in a new light,” he added.

Liwanag is the actor’s pre-birthday show (he’s turning 34 on Sept. 3) and will happen on Aug. 31 at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan.

Through the direction of Frank Mamaril and the musical direction of musical genius  Louie Ocampo, Carlo will be shedding light to his lesser-known passion for music by unveiling his musical memoir.

Since he’s been known for his appeal across all generations, Carlo assured that his concert’s repertoire, although personal, would have something for everyone.

“We’ll have fillers of my other musical inspirations like boy groups and alternative and acoustic artists including old hits,” he said, apart from ensuring that he will once again be playing the guitar as seen on his last concert series with Matteo Guidicelli.

On one end, Liwanag would see a lot of eargasmic serenading of his favorite hits together with some of the dearest people in his life both in and outside of the business. Yet on another end, Carlo will be making the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by digging deeper on his performer side.

Hills & Dreams’ Marketing and Operations Director Vernice Soyangco singled out Carlo’s versatility as the main reason that made them decide to produce a separate show for him.

“I think an artist who shares his journey to the people is an example of an artist promoting how everyone should look back to their roots and continue to spread motivation to others through the best medium and ability you have,” she said.

In keeping with his show’s title, Carlo hopes to spark the light of inspiration to remind his supporters to always seize the moment and to chase their dreams no matter how big and small they are—just like what he did.
