For Kuh so loved the Word

It is an understatement that pop balladeer Kuh Ledesma intends to spread her spirituality to as many people as possible. That she will do a star-studded birthday concert at the Mall of Asia Arena is proof of her goal to “draw people closer to God.”

Titled Mar3ch:16 The Promise, this Saturday’s event, scheduled to begin by 7:30 p.m., is described as a pop and gospel concert, with all proceeds to be handed to a foundation called Holy Bible Giver, an NGO that organizes healing conferences and provides bibles in depressed areas, especially in public schools. The show title is obviously taken from the famous bible verse John 3:16 that began with “For God so loved the world…”

For her, it is no accident that her birthday falls on the 16th of March and she has become a renewed Christian pushing her message through her sphere of influence in the music industry.

“I am so burdened with news of increased depression and suicide, families breaking up, and children turning to drugs to find relief from emotional trauma,” stated Kuh whose daughter Isabella will join her to perform on stage.

The list of bible-believer guests, including marquee names Sarah Geronimo, Daniel Padilla, Erik Santos, Alex Gonzaga, and Christian Bautista, should help bring in the crowd at this gathering where teachers and students are free to watch provided that they bring IDs and have their seats reserved prior to showtime. These celebrities are poised to help the renowned diva deliver a “very enjoyable” show with “thought-provoking portions.”

Kuh, who revealed that guest-actress Maricel Laxa is set to talk about responsible parenting, shared, “I tell my friends not to wait till they’re down and out. They have to seek Him now so that when challenges and trials come, you’ve got your foot on a strong foundation.”

Completing the night’s roster are seasoned acts Eddie Mesa, Ray-An Fuentes, and Gina Alajar, along with upstarts Perkins Twins, and Tim Pavino

When asked to relate her train of thought to the election fever, she raised, “Mahalaga ang ating boto for it can save lives. Kaawa-awa naman ang mahihirap. Some people’s endless desire for wealth has led to selfish lives, thinking of only themselves.”

Hinting that her show, her own concept and a production by Headline Concepts International, won’t be lacking with meaningful spiels directed at the young and guiding adult, Kuh pounced on the matter of bullying: “If we criticize people, that’s not from the Lord. Dapat ang sinasabi natin ay encouraging words. Words are alive and active and they can kill the soul. I know someone who grew up branded ‘good for nothing’ and lagi siyang hirap na hirap.”

For sure, Kuh’s Mar3ch:16 The Promise concert is one loaded with uplifting words and inspirational music.
