Actor David Licauco didn’t really expect that his screen partnership with Julie Ann San Jose in GMA’s new primetime offering Heartful Café would get a warm reception from the viewing public.
“Yes, it just surprised me,” the chinito star avers.
“When the show started, I was amazed by the attention people gave our program. I must admit that I’ve never experienced that before. I thought Julie’s fans are just like that to any of her leading men. I even asked her if it were the case. She said that it’s the first time that her followers are tickled pink watching her with me as screen partner,” the occasional model and entrepreneur carries on.
David admits that he’s amazed by Julie’s fans and the way they expect a post about him and his screen partner.
“Every day, they would ask me if I have something to post about Julie. They follow my everyday activities. It feels good that I am able to make them happy,” he says.
It’s a fact that previously, he also got paired with other female stars. His screen pairing with Julie, on the other hand, is something special simply because of the kind of artist Julie is.
“Personally, it’s a big honor and blessing for me to work with Julie. A lot of young actors like to work with her. Apart from the fact that she’s so talented, she’s so driven and passionate with her craft. You can see that she enjoys what she’s doing, be it singing or acting,” he states.
“She does a lot of things every day. Julie is very industrious, a real go-getter. And she doesn’t complain. I can very well remember that when I was just starting in the ‘biz, I was asked who among GMA’s female leads would I want to be partnered with, I picked her right away,” he adds.
David doesn’t deny that even before, he’s got a crush on Julie, the reason why he felt awkward when they began taping for Heartful Café.
“Actually, it all started there. I met her and saw her Instagram posts. I found her pretty. So when our taping commenced, I really felt awkward which I think is just normal especially if you just met and it was your first time to talk to each other. But eventually, my awkwardness vanished. I became more at ease with Julie. It’s because she’s different as a co-worker. She’s very professional,” David comes clean. Read full story on manilastandard.net
