In a recent interview with the popular late-night showbiz gabfest Tonight with Boy AbundaDaniel Padilla admitted that he really felt scared when he was physically separated from girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo when she was shooting for the film Hello Love, Goodbye opposite Alden Richards

He said he won’t deny that such situation was something new to him.

“She was away for a month. I found it difficult that we’re not physically together during those times. I guess that’s just but natural since we’ve been working for eight straight years together. Both on and off-cam, we were together. Then, all of a sudden, she would be away that long?” he shares.

DJ knew though that it was all about work. He was aware that the reason for their temporary separation was that she’s going to do a movie.

“But you see, its theme is about love. Of course, on my part being a guy, your reaction will be, ‘Oh, my! She will have a different partner. And it’s in a far place like Hong Kong!’ So, the fear was there. To alleviate what I felt, I flew to their set and made a surprise visit.”

Did he really get jealous of Alden?

“Jealous? I think that’s a shallow term. Actually, it’s not envy, it’s more of it’s a different feeling you just experienced for the first time.”

Fortunately, having gone through such predicament has brought about positive things in his relationship with Kathryn.

“Most definitely! We were really put to test. The good thing is, our relationship became more secure and tight. When she left, I can say that it was the dark times of my life. I couldn’t ignore it and say that it was just okay,” he admitted.

“Sometimes, I’m in the bathroom and I would stay there for hours. I just couldn’t explain the source of all the pain I felt when I got separated from Kathryn during that period. What’s clear though is the love I have for her.”

“There were moments when you’ll think, ‘What’s happening there?’ It’s not that I don’t trust Alden. It’s not that. As I repeatedly say, the situation is just different. And I just couldn’t call Kathryn any time I want. They’re shooting. So, I could only talk to her in the morning and evening. In between those times that there’s no Kathryn to talk to, what would I do?” explained Daniel.

Given the great love he has for his lady love, does he already plan to marry Kathryn in the near future?

“I guess it’s not yet the right time. For one, I still need to save for that momentous event in our lives. My savings is not yet enough at this point. Marriage is something that you have to work on and prepare for seriously,” he ended.

If given another opportunity, Judy Ann Santos would still want to work with critically-acclaimed director Brillante Mendoza whom she collaborated with in the film Mindanaowhere she clinched her first international acting award via the recently-concluded Cairo International Film Festival.

“That’s for sure,” she avers. “For one, he works systematically. He works fast. When he says we will pack-up in a certain time, we really do! When you arrive on the set, he will shoot right away. In the process, you learn a lot of things. Like your love for your craft, your passion as an artist, you will realize you still can improve and hone it to the fullest.”

Juday salutes Direk Brillante’s working style.

“I like how he values his respect for people. He doesn’t scream on the set nor become angry. But amazingly, everybody’s obeying him and he has their utmost respect. He doesn’t resort to anger just to make people listen to him and obey him. It’s in the way he treats them with respect.”
