After ten years, Kim Chiu is back in Regal grounds to do a film opposite Dennis Trillo. According to the actress the film is entitled One Great Love.

“It feels good to be working with Regal again after a decade. My last outing with them was in the 2008 edition of Shake, Rattle & Roll, which was fielded in the annual Metro Manila Film Festival. I starred in the ‘Class Picture’ episode,” she says.

Asked how the deal materialized considering she’s a contract artist of ABS-CBN’s film arm Star Cinema, the 28-year actress said she asked permission from the big bosses especially to Olive Lamasan.

Kim Chiu and Dennis Trillo pair up in an upcoming film under Regal Films.

“I talked to them for this project. I asked permission from them if I can do a movie outside while waiting for my next one in Star Cinema. Inang is so nice to allow me. She just asked if I like the material and when I said yes, she consented right away.”

Kim further adds that the film, to be directed by Eric Quizon, is a coming-of-age love story, which a lot of people can relate to.

“It’s about a woman who is already in her late twenties and is confronted with questions as to when she’ll get married. Interestingly, I read the script in one of my air travels. As soon as the airplane landed, I immediately called my handler to express my desire to do it. I instantly fell for the story.”

What adds excitement to Kim is the fact that this is the first time she’ll be doing a potboiler with an actor from a rival station as screen partner.

“I’m nervous with the thought. Everybody knows how good an actor he is. I always attend awards nights and he always bags an acting trophy. I know my acting side will get challenged!”

They already had a story conference for the movie which also features JC De Vera, Miles Ocampo and Marlo Mortel.

“It was the first time as well that I saw Dennis personally. During awards ceremonies, we don’t get to talk. It was the first time that I had communication with him. A showbiz scribe even teased me that Dennis is the quiet type to which I said, I’m the opposite so there will be balance,” ends Kim.

Many observe that due to John Lloyd Cruz’s decision to lie low from the showbiz scene, Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales benefit from it when it comes to projects in their home studio ABS-CBN as well as product endorsements.

To this, Echo avers: “Well, I don’t want to think about it that way. Personally, I’m happy with all the positive developments that are coming my way at this point. It’s heart-warming for sure!”

The award-winning actor believes that Lloydie will stage a comeback soon.

“Actually, I can’t speak for John Lloyd. I can only speak for myself. He is a great person and is very talented. I’m certain that he will bounce back into the scene with a bang.”

Jericho is part of the latest Kapamilya soap titled, Halik.

“I’m very excited with my new show. I’m with Sam Milby here along with Yen Santos and Yam Concepcion. It’s romantic in nature so viewers will see the various facets of love in here. I hope the people will support our new offering. I promise them it is good stuff.”

Meanwhile, the appealing star also made it to the list of the “Men Who Matter” of a widely circulated society magazine.

“It’s a huge honor on my part to be chosen there. I’m with other respectable figures. I even posted it on my social media account. They told me they picked me because of my career choices. I’m thankful to make it to their roster for 2018,” states Echo.
