According to Marian Rivera, becoming a teacher was one of her childhood dreams, the reason why her current prime time offering titled Super Ma’am is close to her heart.

“As a kid, I always had high regards for our educators and had I not ventured into show business, I would’ve been one. As they say, teaching is the noblest job in the world,” she said.

In spite of the fact that she became the popular actress that she is now, her respect for teachers remains intact.

“That’s why I can really relate with my latest soap opera. In a major way, it’s a tribute to teachers. Outside the confines of our home, they are considered as our second parents. Considering their dedication and hard work, they deserve to be respected and treated with utmost dignity!

“Even though the program has elements of fantasy and action, it imparts good values. Watching the show will make the audience realize how essential the roles teachers play in moulding the youth. They contribute a lot in shaping the young people into responsible, reliable and good-natured adults.”

In the series, Marian plays Minerva, a dedicated and loving teacher.

“I love my role here in Super Ma’am. She is the type who never gives up on her students, no matter how hard headed they are. Teaching is her passion that’s why she will do everything for her students to learn. Even if confronted with challenges and difficulties, she remains steadfast.”

This is another vehicle where Marian is also a superhero.

“Minerva accidentally acquires super powers after being bitten by a monster called ‘Tamawo’ which is a menace in their town. These monsters victimize the students. I have many fight scenes here which I’m sure the fans will love.”

Does it remind her of her “Darna” and “Super Inday” days?

“Oh, most definitely!” states Marian. “Actually, I missed playing a superhero on screen considering that it’s been quite some time since I did that. In fact, my training for the action routines is more complicated and intricate as compared to those times when I did Darna. We’re introducing new fighting scenes techniques here in ‘Super Ma’am’ that’s why it’s harder.”

She has a new leading man, Matthias Rhoads, the Filipino-American model who made waves after appearing in a popular burger chain advertisement.

“He’s a nice guy. Would you believe, we have the same birthday? I think he’s one promising newbie.”

What made her think that the handsome showbiz wannabe has a pretty good chance to make it big?

“Well, for one, he doesn’t rely solely on good looks. He knows it’s no sure guarantee to stay long in the scene. I can see his dedication to improve specially with his Tagalog. He asks a lot and you can see his effort to learn,” ends Marian.

Joyce Ching is proud that she’ll soon get her diploma from her filmmaking course.

“How time flies! I’m just so thankful that finally, I will graduate. After four years! Yes!” she says.

Ching cannot describe her feeling with this development.

“All I can say is that it’s fulfilling. When I started, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to finish my studies because I was also busy with my acting career. Imagine, on my freshman year, I did 15 TV shows, then on my sophomore year, six. As a junior, I starred in 14 programs and this year as a senior, five. It’s really no easy task and I’m proud of this achievement!”

For Joyce, it’s worth all the sacrifices.

“There were times in the past when I was so tired physically and mentally. Then there’s the stress both in your work and schooling. It’s not a bed of roses. But I just hung on and strived hard to balance everything. Now that I’m about to graduate, it’s simply amazing,” Joyce states.
