In a recent vlog interview, Regine Velasquez admitted that her heydays as a premiere songstress are over. Still, she remains grateful for all her accomplishments in her chosen field in the last three decades.

“At least, I was able to experience how it is to become popular at one point in time. Now, I realize where I am now in the industry. Obviously, it’s no longer my time and I accept it wholeheartedly,” she averred.

The Asia’s Songbird sees her being “still in the scene” and is offered with work a big blessing for an artist her age.

“At this stage, I still do concerts and all that. But I’m very much aware that it’s no longer my time. I guess, every one of us is given his or her shining moment. That applies not only in the industry but life in general,” she related.

“It just feels good that I’m here now as a coach. At this point in my life, more than fame, I love mentoring because these wannabes listen to everything that I say. And they believe they are truly learning from me and I hope they really do.”

With her stature in the industry, Regine said that teaching young and aspiring singers is her responsibility.

“I’ve been in the business for 35 years already so I’ve gained lots of experiences along the way. Considering this, I feel like it’s my duty to pass it on to the next generation otherwise, it will die with me. What is it there for?”

The talented singer-actress-TV host also stressed that at this point, she’s not so keen on competing anymore.

“I realized that it’s no longer my cup of tea. Let’s give it to the younger breed of singers,” ended Regine.

Proof of GMA’s trust in her is that she’s one of the prized artists of Sparkle, the network’s talent management arm.
