Actress Liza Soberano has confirmed that she doesn’t have any existing contract with ABS-CBN, Star Magic, and Star Cinema. She decided not to renew her ties with the media company.

Despite the nonrenewal of their contract, the 24-year-old star still opts to do projects with the Kapamilya.

“My contract with ABS ended in 2019 but I still work closely with them,” she averred. “I haven’t worked with any other network until now. When it comes to Star Magic, my contract with them expired in June 2021. Even if I don’t have an exclusive contract with the network now, I still prefer to work with them. I always have a loyal heart for them.”

Liza confessed that she’s always been a fan of the Kapamilya even before she started working for the media company.

“They kind of brought in the Filipino culture in me mainly because of The Filipino Channel. I don’t know if I have it in my heart to work with other stations. I’m sorry but it’s just that I love ABS-CBN so much,” she admitted.

The actress revealed that the station has a new offer for her and for Enrique Gil.

“Yes, they have. But it’s really a matter of like, whether the project is something that is right in the direction that we’re going towards or something that excites us.”

Liza is now being managed by Careless Music headed by James Reid. Interestingly, does she want to enter the music field?

“When we had our first meeting, they asked me what I wanted to do. The first thing I said was I wanted to explore auditioning abroad and everything. Then, I kind of initiated a possible music career because they never saw me as a singer. Nobody did. It was something that was never known about me,” the young star pointed out.

“So, I suggested, ‘Maybe a little music on the side.’ They were surprised to hear that I’m interested in music which is something they’re very good at, right? They didn’t know how I sound until we went to Los Angeles where I took vocal lessons with James and that was the first time that he heard me sing live,” she went on.

Liza shared that James and his team watched her previous videos online, including her YouTube videos as far back as six years ago when she was still doing singing tours.

“I sound a lot more different now. And that’s what we’re trying to address at this point: discover what my sound is now and what genre suits my voice. I’m really excited about this development,” she admitted.

Considering that James is also an actor, many are curious if apart from Enrique, she can do projects with the former as well in the coming days.

“Well, a lot of people say we look like siblings. I don’t know with James if he’s still pursuing acting. Perhaps, in music, we can collaborate,” Liza ended.

After more than 25 years with ABS-CBN, Dominic Ochoa will be doing a project with GMA. It was learned that he is part of the cast of the forthcoming Kapuso drama offering titled, Abot Kamay na Pangarap where he will share stellar billing with Carmina Villaroel, Richard Yap, Andre Paras, and Jillian Ward.

According to reports, the show’s storyline is about a poor girl whose mother has very little education. The drama series will highlight her journey as she faces life-changing situations that will put her family ideals, dreams, and love to the test.

This will be Dominic’s maiden regular show for GMA since he is more identified with ABS for the past two decades. Although he made a guest appearance in the GMA-Viva youth-oriented show T.G.I.S. in the mid-‘90s, he became a staple in various Kapamilya programs over the years.
