Mom from Davao wins Mrs. Universe Philippines title

Claudeline Cuntapay-Molero, 41, a mother of three from Tagum City, Davao del Norte, was crowned Mrs. Universe-Philippines 2021 by Mrs. Universe Philippines National Director and Mrs. Universe 2020 Maria Charo Calalo during the grand coronation night held at Okada Manila recently.

Molero, an entrepreneur who describes herself as an adventurous catalyst of change, also won Best in Advocacy Video, Mrs. Enagic Ambassadress Mindanao, and Best in National Costume. Her costume was a modern Filipiniana made from vibrant fabrics from the seven Lumad tribes of Davao del Norte with skeletal butterfly sleeves and headdress. It was designed by Mark Joseph Sayad.

“I’m an empowered woman, I’m passionate and I know my worth. I believe that this is my destiny, God put me in this situation because He knew what’s inside my heart. True beauty is not about looks, it’s all about personality character, and attitude,” said Molero who will compete in Mrs. Universe International 2021 pageant to be held in Seoul, Korea in December.

Crowned Mrs. Universe Philippines Pacific Continental 2021 was Michelle Lucas, 43, a single mother from Rizal. She is a graduate of Interior Design at the University of the Philippines and currently the president of ECOP Rizal.

Ellen Payaoan-Santos of Pangasinan, a Doctors Degree holder in Business and Public Administrations and a licensed Aesthetician was named Mrs. Universe Philippines North Pacific Asia 2021.

Rosemarie Dumadara Koerner of Aurora took the title of Mrs. Universe Philippines Pearl of the Orient 2021. She is the Director of Aurora-Inter Organizational Alliance, an organization of migrants in Aurora and manages Angel’s Residence, a home care facility for the elderly. 

Joanna Marie Razon (Muntinlupa City), Heaven Peñaflorida (Makati City), and Monique Cantalejo Rivera (Laguna) were named 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Queens, respectively, while Marissan Conche (Bicol), Sarah Javier (Cavite), and Mutya Kristina Pacis (Valenzuela City) were awarded MrsUPh Luzon 2021, MrsUPh Visayas 2021 and MrsUPh Mindanao 2021, respectively.

Ambassadress of Health 2021 were Sofia Lee of Negros Orienta and Frenelyn Soloria of Quezon City. Ambassadress of Tourism 2021 were Virgie Chua (Gen. Santos City), Christine Escalante (Manila), and Odezza Ramos Narag (Tarlac). Ambassadress of Education were Rosana Eugenio (Bulacan), Maria Fe Aliba (Baguio City), and Alec Nicole Bathan (Batangas).

Shanyl Kayle Hofer of Minglanilla, Cebu was named Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 2021 during virtual coronation finals held at Cebu Century Plaza Hotel on Saturday, becoming the third consecutive beauty contestant from the Queen City of the South to win in national pageants held recently.

Hofer, a 20-year-old, BS Accountancy major at the University of San Jose – Recoletos, also won Best in Evening Gown for her gorgeous royal blue, strapless gown designed by Jovert Hubahib Redelosa. She succeeded Jannarie Zarzoso of Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

“I still can’t believe that I won my first-ever national crown. This journey has been so amazing. I went through so much from the start until the end but all your support made me more motivated to do my best in representing my hometown, Minglanilla, Cebu. I hope to have a fruitful reign and I’m just so excited that my advocacy will now be in a bigger platform,” Hofer posted after winning the title.

A newcomer in beauty pageants, Hofer placed second runner up in Miss Isabel Leyte 2020 and first runner up in Sugat Kabanhawan Festival Queen 2021. She is an advocate for small businesses/startup businesses in her hometown, taking inspiration from her single-parent mother who struggled to earn a living through small businesses, and from her own halo-halo stall.

Vijie Matias of San Manuel, Isabela and Chynna Kaye Verosil of Bugallon, Pangasinan were named first and second runners up, respectively.

Matias’ video submission won the Pride of Place special award while Cherry May Regalado of Kalibo, Aklan, won Best in Talent, Netizens’ Choice and Best Digital Video Production.

Other special awardees were Angeli Gabrielle Therese Estrada of Puerto Princesa, Palawan  (Miss White Rose Papaya and TNT Nasa Saya Yan);  Sharmaine de la Cruz of Zamboanga (Miss Charm);  Keith Arboleda of Echague, Isabela  (Miss Unique Smile);  and Krysti Anne Villarias of Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte (Palmolive Gandang Natural). 

Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 202i is presented by Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), in keeping with the spirit of the Reyna ng Aliwan contest of the annual grand Aliwan Festival event dubbed as the Philippines’ grandest fiesta which assembles the country’s different top cultural festivals to compete in dance parade and float competitions.
