Standard's Choice: 69th Miss Universe Hot PicksThe 69th Miss Universe pageant is happening on May 16 (May 17 in Manila). Twenty-one semi-finalists will be pre-selected from among the 74 contestants. Manila Standard reveals its traditional hot picks who have a chance to become Miss Universe 2020. With the WME/IMG talent agency, the current owner of Miss Universe pageant, placing importance to girls who can speak, like Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Iris Mittenaere (2016), Demi-Leigh Nel Peters-Tebow (2017), Catriona Gray (2018), and reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi (2019), any one of these girls are capable to become an ideal spokesperson for the Miss Universe cause:

16. Colombia Laura Olascuaga

She has a sensational body and very strong in pasarela. This 25-year-old freelance model is a broadcast journalism graduate. She currently works in her state of Bolivar’s communications department that gives aid in the development of vulnerable communities. She learned sign language to communicate with her deaf sister.

17. Argentina - Alina Luz Akselrad

Argentina’s bet is a 23-year-old radio/TV host and a holder of Harvard University certificate in persuasive writing and children’s rights. She has authored books on young women's empowerment and guidance. She’s not just tall, she complements her height with high-fashion outfits.

18. Jamaica - Miqueal-Symone Williams

This 24-year-old model and student in marketing at the University of the West Indies has created a project that provides internet access to Jamaican children who cannot attend online school classes due to lack of internet access. Called “The Bloom Initiative,” Miss Jamaica can certainly share this project with the rest of the world especially those who badly need it.

19. Cambodia – Sarita Reth

Miss Cambodia is 26 years old, a degree holder in English, attended the private French primary school Lycée Français René-Descartes, and presently pursuing a Masters Degree in International Relations at the Royal University of Law and Economics. An actress, she received the 2016 UNFPA Cambodia Youth Champion Award for her advocacy in promoting gender equality, reproductive health rights, and campaign against gender-based violence in Cambodia.

20. Romania - Bianca Lorena Tirsin

This 22-year-old business administration student at Aurel Vlaicu University in Arad can just be the next Miss Universe. An ambassador for Cetatea Voluntarilor Arad and awarded the “Volunteer of the Year” award since 2017, her main focus within the organization is rehabilitating hospitals, organizing events for children with Down syndrome, and raising funds for impoverished areas in her community.

21. Vietnam - Khanh Van Nguyen Tran

Social media favorite Miss Vietnam is 25 years old. She currently works as an ambassador of One Body Village - an organization that supports, rescues, and helps girls who are victims of exploitation and sexual abuse.
