Why Axel Torres lights our fire

Do not let the evident school boy charms and mild manners deceive you into thinking that Axel Torres lights everybody’s fire.

How does he switch on the fire in all of us exactly? With one glimpse, he can make what inside you sizzle. With a smile, no flame is near yet you feel the burn. When he says hello, an inner conflagration plus one of the seven deadly sins, lust as a potent add on, feeling the heat is inevitable.

Blame him being born under the astrological sign of Leo. Men who are in this fire sign screams sex appeal and handsomeness. Perfect showbiz examples are Aga Muhlach, Dindong Dantes, and the legends namely Comedy King Dolphy, and the King of Philippine show business, Fernando Poe, Jr.

Former 'Pinoy Big Brother' housemate Axel Torres topbills BL drama 'Diving into Love' opposite Hashtag member Kid Yambao.

Mind you, Torres is no way near the adjectives boastful and bashful. Whatever he physically possesses, he downplays them with casual yet fashionable tees and polos and lets his engaging and enchanting personality bring the impression.

His most memorable project to date, a Boys Love drama with Kid Yambao billed Diving Into Love made more people curious about him because his commitment and honesty in bringing life to Sam, gave more reasons to covet him.

“I am thankful that a lot of people like my portrayal of Sam,” reacts the amiable Torres. “I just really put my place in his shoes and it also helped that my co-actor and partner Kid, was also committed to his character that is why the acting part became easy.”

Aside from the BL, he considers Icko Mendoza, his character in a drama series from seven years as his baptism in TV acting: “It was first major project and nasigawan ako,  maraming beses. That experience made me accept my faults and bette myself, especially in terms of acting.”

Torres wants to experience more challenging genres such as action and roles that will require him to be daring: “I want to experience everything. Each role is always an adventure for me. It gives me an opportunity to be another person, and see the world and his situation, from the character’s point of view. You know what intrigues me the most are my character’s thought processes and feelings. For me to be able to give life and truth to them, heaven ang feeling for me.”

Axel is also not immune to the gloom and intrigues in this part of Hollywood. He had his fair share of gossip that includes a very public break up and an alleged video that pinpoints him as the “star.”

To these, Torres says: “Once you stop caring about what other people might think of you then you’ll be okay. Just be yourself and make sure wala ka tinatapakang tao then you’re good.”

How does he deal with bashers and haters then? Axel’s swift reply: “Honestly depends yan sa mood ng isang tao. May araw na you won’t mind them and then may araw na gusto mo lumelevel sa kanila. But now it's not worth it anymore.

Exciting and wonderful projects are forthcoming to Axel now that he is signed as a talent of a major film production outfit. Thus I cannot help but wonder, why must we embrace, love and support him?

With a twinkle in his eyes and the most congenial of smiles, Torres retorts: “Wala naman mawawala if you support me and mas masaya if we all support each other di ba? I have so much more to give, talent wise, as an actor and as a person, there are still so many things I can and want to do. I am driven. I am passionate about the craft. I am here for the long haul. I want to inspire all the dreamers out there with my body of work.”
