In line with the celebration of the National Arts Month, the candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2020 paid a visit on Feb. 18 at the Gateway Gallery Museum, Gateway Tower.
The girls were given a tour of the museum by curator Gari Apolonio, who provided the candidates a quick lecture on the exhibited artworks.
The museum visit provided the Binibining Pilipinas candidates a quick blast from the past courtesy of the artworks lined up at the museum’s SiningSaysay: Philippine History in Art exhibit.
The exhibit, which features 30 large-scale paintings from pre-historic Philippines to the contemporary period, is a joint project of the Araneta City and the University of the Philippines.
Through the museum tour, Binibining Pilipinas aims to promote art appreciation while teaching history to the candidates.
The Gateway Gallery is open to the public Mondays to Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
