The month of August was filled with fun and excitement as GMA Regional TV, the regional arm of leading broadcast company GMA Network, brought some of the country’s most sought-after stars to various cities and provinces in the regions to give Kapuso viewers an experience of a lifetime.

Star-studded month for Kapuso in the regions
Celebrating the Higalaay Festival in Cagayan de Oro City last Aug. 31 were Beautiful Justice star Gabbi Garcia and One of the Baes' Rita Daniela and Ken Chan.

In Davao, the festive fever of Kadayawan Festival was highlighted by Asia’s Multi-media Star Alden Richards who, together with his co-stars Mikee Quintos, Thia Thomalla, Ysabel Ortega, and Martin del Rosario of the primetime series The Gift, joined the Dabawenyos in celebrating one of the Philippines’ biggest festivals via a Kapuso Mall Show in The Atrium, Gaisano Grand Citygate in Buhangin, Davao City last Aug. 23.

The following day, Aug. 24, the cast was warmly welcomed by the locals and tourists when they toured around the city aboard the Kapuso Float for the Pamulak Kadayawan Float Parade. The entire event was documented live by GMA TV 5 Davao in Pamulak sa Kadayawan: A GMA Regional TV One Mindanao Special Coverage. Kapuso all over the country and the world were also able to witness the parade via the live streaming courtesy of GMA RTV’s official website,www.gmaregionaltv.com.

Prior to that weekend, Bihag lead actors Jason Abalos and Mark Herras already treated their fans to a Kapuso Mall Show in Gaisano Mall Toril on Aug. 18. Also present that day were Love You Two leading man Gabby Concepcion, The Better Woman lead stars Derek Ramsay and Andrea Torres, and upcoming primetime series One of the Baes’ Rita Daniela and Ken Chan who celebrated with Kapusong Dabawenyos at The Annex Event Center, SM City Davao.

Last Aug. 31, Rita and Ken also graced another major Kapuso Mall Show during the Higalaay Festival in Cagayan de Oro City with one of Beautiful Justice’s leading stars, Gabbi Garcia. The popular love team was also the highlight of the Tuna Festival at General Santos City with Edgar Allan Guzman the following day.

Derek and Andrea were also all over the country as they graced three more Kapuso Mall Shows this month, namely in SM City Lucena (Aug. 19); Vista Mall Bataan (Aug. 24); and in Robinsons Place Pavia, Iloilo (Aug. 31).

Meanwhile, Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko stars Rayver Cruz, Kim Domingo, and Kris Bernal also held a Kapuso Mall Show at CSI Mall Tayug, Tayug, Pangasinan last Aug.17.

The cast of GMA Prime’s Prima Donnas—Aiko Melendez, Katrina Halili, Wendell Ramos, Sofia Pablo, Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan—also bannered the activities in Robinsons Place Pangasinan. The men of Dahil Sa Pag-ibig, Pancho Magno and Benjamin Alves, also set aside their indifferences first as Gary and Eldon to amuse the Bicolanos in SM City Legazpi.

Throughout the month, GMA Regional TV was also nonstop in bringing the Kapuso stars in other parts of the country. Kristoffer Martin serenaded the finalists at the Ms. Teen Essentials at Ayala Malls Legazpi last Aug. 10 while Miguel Tanfelix went to Silliman University to grace the Miss Silliman 2019 Pageant Night last Aug. 24.

On the same day, GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso served as one of the judges at the Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 held at The Atrium of Limketkai Center. Together with him as judges were Kapuso actor Tonton Gutierrez, renowned Filipino fashion designer Renee Salud, and Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International 2018 Sharifa Akeel. Cinderella Faye ‘Cindy’ Obeñita took home the crown during the Grand Coronation Night which was co-hosted by actor Gabby Eigenmann. GMA Regional TV One Mindanao’s Clyde Macascas also covered the grand coronation night.

All these star-studded activities are on top of GMA Regional TV’s relaunch of its various regional newscasts Balitang Amianan (North Central Luzon), Balitang Bisdak (Central and Eastern Visayas), One Western Visayas (Western Visayas), and One Mindanao(Mindanao). The regional arm of GMA Network also marked another milestone as it made its local newscasts available to more viewers nationwide through GMA Regional TV Weekend News airing on GMA News TV every Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

“August has been a fun and hectic time for GMA Regional TV. We had the relaunch of our regional newscasts while bringing our various Kapuso stars in different places all over the country. Our Kapuso in the regions should look forward to more activities with our Kapuso stars because there will be more shows lined up for them! This is our way of thanking them for their continued support to GMA Network. We hope to see them again, soon!” says Amoroso.
