GMA Artist Center talent Martin del Rosario received his first-ever Best Actor award in the Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 for his exceptional role as Daniel Panti in the comedy flick The Panti Sisters.
The 26-year-old actor could not help but feel overwhelmed by the great turnout of his career this year, “I feel like I was able to portray a memorable character. It’s overwhelming because apart from being the top-grosser, nanalo pa ako ng Best Actor, kasabay pa ‘yung world premiere ng The Gift. Overflowing ‘yung blessings, hindi ko na ma-explain ‘yung saya na nararamdaman ko.”
Martin is now gearing up for his role in the GMA primetime series The Gift, where he plays Jared, a politician and Sep’s (Alden Richards) half-brother. According to him, his new role is a big shift from his character in The Panti Sisters, but he is up for the challenge.
“I really wanted to play different roles. I make it a point to give my best whenever I play a certain character. So, when you are recognized for your hard work, like this award, it inspires me more to be better at what I do. It’s an affirmation that I am headed in the right direction in terms of my career choices.”
Furthermore, Martin also shared his preparations for yet another complex role in The Gift, “Physically, ngayon nag-palaki ako. Two weeks na akong nag-gym kasi kontrabida eh, Alden is taller than myself, and we have a lot of confrontations so I need to keep up with him. It has be believable even physically. I even had to sport a different haircut and I wear glasses now so I would look realy different.”
Catch Martin in The Gift, Mondays to Fridays, after Beautiful Justice on GMA Telebabad.
