Catriona Gray appeals for help for Bicol typhoon victims

Using her clout as newly crowned Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray appealed for help for her countrymen affected by the devastating landslides and floods in the Bicol region, the hardest hit by tropical depression “Usman.”

Calling for prayers and aids for the people of Albay, Sorsogon and Camarines Sur on her Instagram, Gray, posted “there have been 57 reported deaths (so far) from landslides and floods caused by typhoon Usman that affected the region December 30.”

“Team Albay Youth Organization (TAYO), Inc., in Gogon, Legazpi City, will be repacking relief goods starting on January 2 and is accepting water, ready-to-eat food, old clothes, blankets, and other relief items,” Gray, whose Mother is from Oas, Albay, said. 

“The Camarines Sur Chapter of the Red Cross is also accepting donations in cash and in kind. You may bring or send donation to the PRC-Camarines beside ABS-CBN Panganiban Drive, Naga City,” she added.

Meanwhile, after a week of not updating her fans on social media on her whereabouts, the 24-year-old Gray finally greeted her online fans and supporters before she left for New York, where she will start performing her duties as new Miss Universe.

“Refreshed from a quiet holiday season with my loved ones, I’ve packed up my home in Manila and now I’m ready to move to my new home in New York City!! I still can’t believe it! I have to say I’m most nervous about experiencing the chill of NYC in winter but would love to know, what are your recommendations to see, do and eat?! Let me know!!,” Gray said on her social media post.
