Kapuso anchorman Mike Enriquez ended vast speculation about his absence in the public eye for a long time through a statement clarifying the reasons behind his prolonged hiatus.
“I am currently on medical leave,” the senior broadcaster revealed as he is being treated for kidney disease and also scheduled to undergo a heart bypass operation in mid-September.
He also added that the doctors told him that he can return to his normal duties after two to four months of his surgery.
“In the meantime, it is best that I rest and avoid stress to avoid any medical emergency before my bypass,” he emphasized.
While in a DZBB radio program Double A sa Double B, Enriquez had a talk with his colleagues, Arnold Clavio, Ali Sotto, and Joel Reyes Zobel, over the phone where he cracked jokes and had a light conversation with them. He also used the opportunity to thanked everyone for their support, wishes, and prayers for his good health.
Besides, GMA Network also released a statement assuring support for the anchor’s recovery.
“We fully support him and are praying for his successful surgery and quick recovery. Together with our viewers all over the world, his friends and colleagues here in GMA look forward to welcoming back a healthier and stronger Mike Enriquez soon.” Enriquez’s home network expressed.
Enriquez still continues to perform his function as the Consultant for Radio of GMA Network, Inc. and as the president of RGMA Network, Inc.
“I will be back,” cinched Enriquez.
