Teen artist Bailey May is set to bring the country into the global spotlight after American Idol producer Simon Fuller picked him to be part of his upcoming global pop group called Now United.

The confirmation of his selection came months after he flew to Los Angeles together with three other teen hopefuls to join the Now United boot camp. Although still managed by Star Magic, Bailey will now be part of the culturally diverse 14-member sing and dance group while touring the globe.

Despite bringing pride to the country, Bailey humbly claimed he never considered himself a “shoo-in” at the weeklong boot camp, that assessed the nearly 50 participants’ singing, dancing and social media presence.

After a series of audition and boot camps, Kapamilya teen star Bailey May is selected as one of the official members of the global pop group

According to him, he found out he was officially selected by Simon and his team back in August, during their last day at the boot camp.

“My heart was racing, I was so nervous. I thought my life could change in a matter of minutes and then he said my name and then like just a burst of happiness rushed through my body. Ever since then it’s been on my mind,” said Bailey.

Bailey assured that he would be working very hard in making sure that he represents the country well on the international scene even if his feat hasn’t sunk on him yet.

“Yeah I’m very proud because there are three other people who came to audition to Now United. And to be able to represent the Philippines, the place where I grew up, where I was born is a dream come true,” he said.

Now, United’s Project Manager Yonta Taiwo, meanwhile, confirmed that loads of projects are to be expected from the group following their launch.

“We’re currently in the process of selecting because there are lots of offers coming from different promoters throughout Asia and internationally. So we’re just assessing where the best place is to be the launchpad for Now United,” shared Yonta.

But with Bailey onboard, Yonta assured that his fans can see him in person soon enough.

In the end, Bailey thanked his supporters who happily welcomed this new chapter in his career.

“Sobrang miss ko kayo at maraming salamat sa pagsuporta sa akin. Since day one, you’ve been supporting me, and you, I’m so blessed to have you as a fan of mine. You know I pray that the future has good things for us as a fanbase. Mahal ko kayo,” he ended.

Now United is the first ever global pop group created by Simon fuller featuring 14 artists from 14 different countries. The artists are between the ages of 14-19 year old (boys/girls) and can all sing and dance.
