In the music industry where most of the bands ended up disbanding or vocalists decided to leave their respective bands in exchange for launching their own careers, Gigi De Lana gave her bandmates in The Gigi Vibes Band the assurance that she is not going anywhere despite offers to go solo.
“Tama na hindi sila nag-wo-worry kasi hindi ko pinaparamdam ‘yun and at the same time, I will not leave The Gigi Vibes just because of offers, kasi for sure, maraming offers d’yan. Kasi before, naranasan ko nang mag-solo and hindi siya nag-wo-work for me,” she said.
In a press conference for their upcoming post-Valentine concert, Gigi shared that she actually tried going solo but admitted that it was not the same as she was performing with the band.
“Kasi kung ako naman, kasi part naman ako ng banda. Ang daming nagsasabi, actually, ‘yung Gigi De Lana and The Gigi Vibes dapat Gigi Vibes na lang kasi banda kami. I’m not a solo artist with a band,” shared Gigi.
The singer is actually a Star Magic talent and Rise Studio artist. She was introduced in 2022 with her self-titled debut album which earned over 3.9 million streams on Spotify by yearend. It features the hit song “Sakalam” and the key track “O Bakit Ba.” She was also paired with Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson on the drama series Hello Heart.
The Gigi Vibes, consisting of Gigi for vocals, Jon Cruz (musical director, keyboard), Jake Manalo (bass), Julius Traqueña (guitar), and Romeo Marquez (drums), will once again hit the concert stage titled G Rules, happening on February 18, Saturday, at The Theatre at Solaire.
Last year, the band had their Domination concert tour in Manila, the Middle East, and the U.S. This love month, the Gigi Vibes is going to rock everyone’s hearts out with their original songs and amazing covers that have taken the internet by storm.
“Actually we wanted it to be as intimate as possible, ‘yung abot kamay lang nila kami,” Gigi exclaimed. “It will be something new, tampok ang mixed emotions sa show namin. And s’yempre hindi mawawala ang kulitan.”
