Ishmael Bernal’s ‘Pagdating sa Dulo’ screens for free at CCP

In Commemoration of Ishmael Bernal’s 84th Birth Anniversary, the Cultural Center of the Philippines Arthouse cinema will screen his directorial debut, Pagdating sa Dulo (1971), for free. 

It will be available on September 30 at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde at CCP Arthouse Manila at 2:00 p.m. Following the new protocols of CCP, moviegoers must wear face masks inside the premises and bring a copy of their vaccination cards. 

Ishmael Bernal is the National Artist for Film and is called the “Genius of Philippine Cinema.” His other notable works are Nunal sa Tubig (1976), Manila by Night (1980), and Himala (1982). His films depict the struggles of Filipinos as a creative commentary. 

“Pagdating sa Dulo” stars Rita Gomez, Vic Vargas, and Eddie Garcia. It is considered one of the classic Filipino films which depict the separation of real life from stardom and the perils of success in the industry.

Pagdating sa Dulo can also be streamed online via the Film Development Council of the Philippines, along with seven other classics from directors, like Lino Brocka, Kidlat Tahimik, and Marilou Diaz-Abaya, until September 30.
