Prince of RnB Jay-R returns to the live concert circuit via his two-day weekend concert series dubbed PRESS PLAY at the Music Museum on Nov. 6 and 7.

“It’s been years since my last concert,” he says. “I figure it’s about time to put together another show. I owe it to myself and all my supporters.”

Judging from his eventful stint in the top-rating ABS-CBN reality/talent show Your Face Sounds Familiar earlier this year, Jay-R seems to have multiplied his fan base.

In hindsight, the accolades he reaped from his YFSF days clearly validate his worth and stature,  not just as a singer and songwriter, but as a versatile musical chameleon who could adapt to the challenges of various musical genres.

Jay-R exclaims, “Your Face Sounds Familiar really helped me to spread my music a lot more throughout the world. That’s always been my main goal to spread my music across the globe as much as I can. And YFSF helped me do that.”

Doesn’t he regret not being part of the show’s second season?

He confesses, “I like being a spectator now. I believe in giving everyone a chance and now is the chance to shine, I’ve had my turn. Let them have theirs.”

By now, his YFSF fans might be wondering: Will Jay-R be reprising his quick-change artistry by once again mimicking Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers, Pepe Smith and the other musical legends he once portrayed on the show?

“No, unfortunately. The prosthetics and make-up for all that would just be too time- consuming,” he clarifies.

And just what is the rationale behind Press Play anyway?

“It’s titled as such because once you arrive at the Music Museum, all you have to do is press play, and you’ll hear all Jay-R songs the whole evening,” he elexplains.

Joining Jay-R onstage are his special guests, Mica Javier, Dee Jay Poblete, Q-York and Kris Lawrence.

Aside from being kept busy by his guestings on ABS-CBN shows, Jay-R also has his hands full with composing and arranging chores.

He reveals, “I’m always producing other artists. I just finished some songs for Nyoy Volante, Melai Cantiveros, Rayver Cruz and Denise Laurel this month.”

Will there be a new album soon?

“Yes, I’m always making new music all the time. I’m working on a new album that I will release first quarter of next year. I’m very excited to put it out. I’m sure a lot of people will be surprised with what I’ve been cooking/’ he continues.

Jay-R’s fans are still curious as to his current network affiliation. Because of his extensive exposure on ABS-CBN, many are assuming that he’ll be a Kapamilya talent soon. Are there any such plans?

He says, “I don’t know yet. Hopefully. I’ve just been very happily guesting on a lot of ABS shows lately. And I want to thank them for giving me that opportunity.

Asked about his love life, the RnB Prince answers, “Love life is great! The most I love about it is that there’s no pressure.

“Although I have a lot of work and can’t offer much quality time, she understands and doesn’t pressure me to be with, talk or text her all the time. It’s a very mature relationship.”

Jay-R is currently managed by ALV Talent Circuit.
