A bike ride to remember

Words are not enough to express one's gratitude to humans who endured four days of  travelling by bike  to accomplish  a goal that is so important to their hearts: To get help for 67 rescued  dogs and cats.

Six men—Virgilio "Gil" Bugaoisan, 42, Renando Mallare Sy, 37, Lito Guardaquivil, 42,  Ryan Christopher Macalong, Max Ternora, and  Carl Rapunzon, 16, all of Team Harkor/Ifit Pro Unlimited Cyclists—pushed on with a charity ride  called Padyak Para Kay Bantay at Muning on Nov. 12 and reached  their destination despite problems encountered along the way, including an injury, on Nov. 15.

Their determination paid off as they raised P22,500.00 for sick rescued animals, and got donations in kind to help senior and disabled dogs at the care home of  Save Animals of Love and Light, an animal welfare group.

As they continued pedalling  from one destination to another, their hard work did not go unnoticed, thanks to donors Anytime Fitness Scape Macapagal who also gave them a send-off,  Congressman Jericho Nograles, Beebom Aquino, Ahnj Dom, Red Pasetes, MDG, Hachiko, EBC, Nestor Bugaoisan,  Leng Catchme, Christine ANNe Cox, Team Hunyango Multisport, Sha Sha Veterinary Clinic, Fe Montano, and Dr. Anthony Prado Basa.

Nov. 12, 12 a.m: Prayers for safety during send-off  at Anytime Fitness Scape Macapagal.

They will be back in Manila today, thanks to Congressman Karlo Nograles who provided airline tickets so they do not have to bike all the way back to Manila.

Allow me to  share photos  that tell their story of strength  and endurance despite numerous obstacles,  and their compassion and love for  animals in need.

Bless you abundantly, bikers! May there be more like you.

Namaste!

Nov. 12- 13: No fancy restaurant or food for  the bikers. They moved on despite the obstacles and reached  Masbate on Nov. 14.
Nov. 12, 9:30 p.m.: Another obstacle going to Masbate. "Flat na naman 😭. This time si Siklista Carl Justine, " Gil  said.
Nov. 14: This is how bikers with a mission rest: no beds, no pillows, no blankets.
Nov. 15, 7:14 a.m.:  Touchdown Bohol! Mission accomplished! "After 4 days of sufferfest, finishline Bohol," wrote Gil in his Facebook wall.
Nov. 12: 6 a.m.: The bikers reach  Lopez, Quezon.
Nov. 12, 6:39 p.m.: Bikers hit snags. "Sobrang dami ang aberya. Semplang ako sa Caliraya. Medyo maga (ang) kamay ko.. Then 'yung rear derailleur ni Lito nasira and we had to find a bike shop in Calauag to fix it. Tapos na-flat na naman ako.  Tagkawayan  (Quezon) pa lang kami. Hirap!" Gil  reported.
Nov. 15, 3:37 a.m.: After a half day lost waiting for the RoRo ride, they reach Cebu.
NEW FRIEND. Ride leader Gil meets Muning, a stray cat, in Bohol.
