Landslide victory for BBM

“There are only two kinds of candidates – the winners and those who claim they have been cheated.”

On Monday, the nation will express its will and select the next officials of our land. Let us hope for fair, honest, peaceful and orderly elections.

I am certain that the next president will be Bongbong Marcos and the next vice president will be Sara Duterte-Carpio.

If there is one thing that Monday’s election will prove, it is that the Marcos name is not devil incarnate as the Yellows and the Leftists would paint it to be. Yes there were atrocities and abuses, but there were also good things like the laws that we are still observing to this day.

I would advise the BBM-Sara supporters against being complacent. There could be man-made miracles such as cheating. Note that there are only two kinds of candidates – the winners and those who claim they have been cheated.

And then you have the “also rans” who also end up as winners, having solicited contributions from supporters. They end up pocketing the money.

It’s really a multi-million peso industry. Imagine the hakot crowd.

We should also look at who will make it to the Senate. Here is my wish list:

Loren Legarda, Chiz Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano, Gibo Teodoro, Mark Villar, Dick Gordon, Won Gatchalian, Jojo Binay, Migz Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, Leila de Lima and Greg Honasan.

On the local front, my wish is for Mayors Abby Binay and Joy Belmonte to win.

**

A confluence of events is responsible for the inevitable presidency of Bongbong. Foremost is the accusations of the Yellows and the Leftists. They say that Martial Law brought on the dark ages in Philippine history.

Then you have the support of the Solid North, and the fact that Inday Sara is a Cebuana. Several groups have also expressed support – Iglesia ni Cristo, Apollo Quiboloy the self-appointed Son of God, Mike Velarde and the Iglesia ni Aglipay.

I believe BBM will be a majority president.

**

It would take a miracle for Robredo to catch up. I would say the game is over.

Why are those lagging behind not withdrawing? They want to save face. They have already told their supporters that they would fight to the end. Plus, they have already received contributions from taipans. It all boils down to greed.

**

By next week, we may already know the president. But we could also be dealing with a surge in COVID cases. I wonder if the government can still handle this.
