“Decisions will be announced soon.”

While the event was supposed to highlight former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos’ acceptance of nomination as presidential candidate of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, the political party founded by his late father, the organizers and party officials nonetheless made up for the disappointing turn of events when Bongbong made no categorical statement with regards to accepting KBL’s nomination, when they nominated feisty lawyer Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon as the party’s lone senatorial bet for 2022.

In a video message sent to party officials and played during the vent held at the Thunderbird Resorts in Binangonan, Rizal, Bongbong or BBM to his followers, thanked the KBL said he is still undecided whether to run for president in the 2022 polls, saying he was overwhelmed by the expressions of support and the endorsement they have accorded him.

However, BBM, a member of the Nacionalista Party, having run and winning a senatorial seat in 2010, stopped short of saying he was accepting the nomination, saying he was leaving his options open as a lot of informal talks are still being pursued with other groups including the rival PDP-Laban factions headed by President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

He however assured everyone he will be announcing his decision soon. The filing of the certificate of candidacy runs from October 1 – 8.

Gadon, who has been running under the banner of the KBL since 2016, said they were not really expecting BBM to accept their nomination as they recognize the fact he belongs to another political party. But whether Bongbong runs under his old political party or under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas which also nominated him, or with the Labor Party, or even under the KBL, won’t matter as what is important, according to Gadon, is that different political parties have pledged support to him, which is crucial in ensuring his victory in 2022.

“BBM is now the strongest candidate This is the reason why the Aquinos and the Yellows are doing everything to attack Bongbong’s candidacy,” said Gadon, a vocal critic of the Aquinos.

“The people were duped in 1986 as their ideals were betrayed by the Yellows,” he said, adding that the KBL will consider alliances with other political organizations to further strengthen Marcos’ presidential bid.

Gadon has gained fame and (notoriety among his opponents) for his no-holds barred criticisms against the Aquinos and their allies. The lawyer was instrumental in invalidating the appointment of lawyer Maria Lourdes Sereno as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

He also filed an impeachment case against SC Associate Justice Marvic Leonen; the case was dismissed by the Justice Committee of the House of Representatives even as the basis used against Sereno and Leonen were basically the same.

With still a week to go before the filing of COCs, Gadon is mustering all the support he can gather, with his videos of interviews and news items on him hitting the million mark in the social media just hours after its posting.

And according to his supporters, 2022 can be the year he could finally get a seat in the Senate.

A case of medical malpractice?

Dyke Bennica Pangan is crying foul over the handling (or mishandling) by medical professionals in the case of her mother.

According to Pangan, they brought her mother to Providence Hospital in Quezon City early last week after her mother developed a fever, aggravated by a drastic drop in her oxygen level.

While the results for her mother’s RT-PCR test have yet to come out, she however was declared to have been infected with dengue.

After a couple of days, the younger Pangan said her mother’s platelets normalized, but was then diagnosed with mild to clear pneumonia, as per results of her x-ray. But even as the results of the RT-PCR has yet to come out, Pangan said her mother was already being administered with Covid treatment protocols.

Pangan said her mother was placed under a high flow oxygen vent since they arrived at the Emergency Room of the hospital, which seemed to help as her mother’s oxygen level had stabilized at 96.

However, last Saturday, when a room became available, the hospital personnel attending to her mother decided to transfer her and was switched to an ordinary oxygen tank, resulting in her oxygen level dropping to 72. Switching her back to high flow oxygen helped stabilize her oxygen level, according to Pangan.

Blurb: Decisions will be announced soon.

Despite her pleas, Pangan said the hospital personnel just ignored her as if losing someone’s life is an ordinary thing for those people. According to Pangan, the medical personnel attending to her mother were in a hurry that day as their shift was about to end.

Her mother eventually succumbed.

Maybe Anakalusugan Rep. Michael Defensor should look into this. Losing a life is something nobody could rectify. And this hospital should not be in the business of treating people if indeed Ms. Pangan’s allegations are true.

I am leaving this column open just in case Providence Hospital wants to air its side on the matter.
