6.2-magnitude earthquake hits northern Sumatra, Indonesia: USGS

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s northern Sumatra island on Friday morning, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage.

The quake hit at a depth of 12 kilometres (7.5 miles), about 66 kilometres from the town of Bukittinggi on Sumatra, the USGS said.
