1,097 new cases bring COVID-19 total to 476,916

The Philippines logged on Saturday 1,097 new cases of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 476,916, as 15 laboratories failed to submit their data on time, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

The laboratories did not submit their results for January 1, 2021 due to the temporary unavailability of the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS), the DOH said.

“This was resolved immediately, and while the impact has been minimal, we are coordinating with all involved laboratories to ensure that all results are uploaded as soon as possible,” the DOH added.

Top cities and provinces with new cases are Davao del Norte, 65; Davao City, 60; Laguna, 53; Batangas, 48; and Cavite, 43.

The DOH also reported 27,721 active cases, which is 5.8 percent of the total cases. Of the active cases, 82.3 percent are mild cases; 9.8 are asymptomatic; 4.9 percent are critical; 2.6 percent are severe; and 0.43 percent are moderate.

The DOH also reported that 47 persons have recovered recently, bringing the total recoveries to 439,942, which is 92.2 percent of the total.

The DOH also reported that, nationwide, of the approximately 2,100 total ICU bed capacity, 64 percent are available; of the approximately 15,900 total isolation bed capacity, 71 percent are available.

Of the approximately 7,400 total ward bed capacity, 79 percent are available; and, of the approximately 2,100 total units of ventilators, 80 percent are available.

The DOH also reported that one duplicate was removed from the total case count.
