Five people were killed and 12 others were injured after a car slammed into a tricycle at the National Highway in San Juan, Batangas, at dawn on Friday.
The fatalities included a Sangguniang Kabataan councilor and a Navy man who had been driving the car, a Honda Civic.
Reports from the San Juan, Batangas, Municipal Police Station said five of those killed were passengers of the tricycle.
Nine passengers of the tricycle and four passengers of the car were injured.
A report said the car slammed into the tricycle after it veered into the opposite side of the road, and that the tricycle’s occupants had just come from a party when the incident happened.
Three passengers of the tricycle were taken to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
