Cops and fire officers received a dressing down from President Rodrigo Duterte, his close aide said Wednesday night, amid the wake of incidents which exposed weaknesses in government’s response capabilities.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go shared a photo of the President giving a talk to police and fire officers at the presidential guest house in Panacan, Davao City, where he gave a “lecture” on emergency response to fire officials, while the police were told about procedures on “warrant and seizure” (arrest and seizure).

Former Armed Forces chief Eduardo Año, BFP chief Chief Supt. Leonardo Bañaga and heads of the police and the Highway Patrol Group were also present during the briefing.

A mall in Duterte’s native Davao City was recently hit by fire, claiming 38 lives.

The PNP meanwhile, has been under fire after several Mandaluyong cops in pursuit of a shooter mistakenly shot at a vehicle carrying the shooting victim and those who had come to her aid.
