THE National Bureau of Investigation on Sunday said operatives of its Special Action Unit have arrested two Liberians in an entrapment operation in Malate, Manila for swindling and estafa.

NBI Director Dante Gierran identified the Liberian suspects as Abraham Victor alias “George” and Harry Shoum Teennesse alias “Harry.”

The suspects allegedly duped a Filipino victim into paying for a non-existent machine that would fabricate fake US dollars.

The victim reportedly gave the suspects $10,000 as initial payment after he was made to believe he was investing in the purchase of chemicals that would purportedly convert special paper money into genuine US dollars.

Gierran said the suspects gave the victim a securely wrapped package that supposedly comes with a machine to fabricate US greenbacks.

However, to the victim’s surprise, the package did not contain a machine but an improvised vault with worthless green colored paper cut in the size of money bills.

When the suspects asked for another $90,000 for the balance, the victim reported the scam to the NBI.
