PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will not be making any changes to his style one year into the presidency, a Palace official said Monday even as the preparations for his second State-of-the-Nation Address got under way.

Despite his use of expletives against his rivals and critics, Duterte’s manner of speaking had fascinated the foreign media and won the respect of his fellow leaders, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a radio interview.

“It has really caught the attention of the international market, media. And now our leader is being respected by other leaders,” Andanar said.

He said the President “will continue to be who he is and his style will continue. No one in the Cabinet will stop him from being who he is.

“The people has accepted the way he talks. The people voted for him. Sixteen million people.”

In a separate interview, Andanar said preparations were under way for Duterte’s second State-of-the-Nation Address.

“The PMS and the PCOO were in-charge of the preparations for the production and messaging,” Andanar said

During his first year, Duterte made substantial reforms and attracted investments during his foreign trips, Andanar said.
