THE Sandiganbayan on Monday granted former Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s request for medical tests outside his detention cell in Camp Crame.

At a hearing, the anti-graft court granted Estrada’s motion to undergo the magnetic resonance imaging and X-ray for the pain on his left knee at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City.

Estrada said in his motion he was suffering from “patellofemoral pain syndrome” discovered by his doctor at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center after he complained of continuous pain and discomfort on his left knee.

Estrada’s doctor at Camp Crame then recommended the former senator might consider medical tests by another doctor.

Estrada is under detention for plunder charges over allegatios he amassed P183.793 million worth of kickbacks by allocating his Priority Development Assistance Fund or pork barrel from 2004 to 2012 to the fake non-government organizations allegedly owned by detained businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, Estrada’s co-accused in the plunder rap.
