PILAR, Bataan—The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 3 has commended the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) Bataan for its anti-illegal drugs efforts.

DENR 3 Regional Director Francisco Milla had issued a memorandum commending the initiative of Penro Bataan to conduct surprise drug tests among its employees upon the order of Penro Raul Mamac.

All the employees of Penro Bataan and 2 Cenros in the province yielded negative in the drug test.

The commendation came as members of the Cebu City Police Office arrested a suspected big-time drug trafficker at dawn Tuesday and seized from him some P14.8 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” in a buy-bust operation in his residence in Barangay Pasil.

Chief Insp. Christopher Navida, head of the CCPO City Intelligence Branch, identified the suspect as Melchor Ocarol, 53.

Navida said police recovered from Ocarol’s house several plastic packs of shabu weighing 1.255 kilograms worth P14,809,000.

In separate certifications issued by Bataan PNP Crime Laboratory Head Police Major Aylin Perez, all 47 employees of Penro Bataan, 50 employees of Cenro Dinalupihan, and 43 employees of Cenro Bagac yielded negative.

Mamac earlier said his order of surprise drug test of all employees under him is a response to a call for a drug-free Philippines by President Rodrigo Duterte.
