Amadeo Cavite Mayor holds first SOMA

Amadeo Cavite Mayor Albert A. Ambagan Sr. held his first “State Of Municipal Address” which focuses on health, education, infrastructure, implementation of peace and order, agriculture, and tourism development, among others.

The SOMA was held recently at the Municipal Covered Court of Amadeo, Cavite where the mayor informed his constituents that his three years of service will have for its main thrust the top 10 priority projects for the year 2016 to 2019.

The municipality of Amadeo, which was named after King Amaedo of Spain,  is a fourth class municipality in the province of Cavite with a population of 37,649, according to the 2015 census. 

Known as the “Coffee Capital of the Philippines,” Amadeo is famous for its Pahimis Festival, which showcases the town’s coffee industry. The festival is usually held on the last weekend of February while its town fiesta is held on the last Sunday of April.

Amadeo is politically subdivided into 26 barangays (12 urban, 14 rural) composed of the following; Banaybanay;  Buho; Bucal; Dagatan; Halang; Loma;’ Maitim I; Maymangga; Minantok Kanluran; Minantok Silangan; Pangil; Barangay I (Poblacion); Barangay II (Poblacion); Barangay III (Poblacion); Barangay IV (Poblacion); Barangay V (Poblacion); Barangay VI (Poblacion); Barangay VII (Poblacion); Barangay VIII (Poblacion); Barangay IX (Poblacion); Barangay X (Poblacion); Barangay XI (Poblacion); Barangay XII (Poblacion); Salaban; Talon and Tamacan.

Ambagan said that included in his top 10 projects for the town are the establishment of  a safe and environment-friendly Material Recovery Facility (MRF); the completion and renovation of farm to market roads, the construction of organic farming agricultural training center, the onstruction of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Training Center; configuration and development of Municipal Public Market, the development of a multi-purposed hall and training centers, the renovation of rural health center, the municipal police station and additional police vehicles and the introduction of agro-tourism and development of the public cemetery.

Mayor Ambagan said he also plans to preserve a green environment for the town to mitigate the impact of climate change as well as to empower women’s rights, quality education for both in and out-of-school youths.  He added that to this end, the mayor’s offfice is working with officials of the  Cavite State University for the establishment of  the Amadeo Satellite Campus.

As the country’s coffee capital, Ambagan said Amadeo needs to fast-track the development of its coffee production through modern plantation in coordination with the National Coffee Board.

The mayor also emphasized the need to keep peace and order in the town’s barangays, as he vowed to install CCTV cameras to prevent the commission of crimes and also identify the perpetrators.
