Zarate also said the BSP should correct these errors in the new design.

One error, Zarate said, is the scientific name of the Philippine eagle, which is “Pithecophaga jefferyi.” The term was spelled “Pithecophaga jefforyi” in the new bill, the lawmaker said.

He also said the scientific name should be italicized because it is written in Latin

The BSP released a new design of the P1,000 banknote over the weekend.

The BSP said the new design of the P1,000 banknote features the Philippine eagle in front, replacing heroes Vicente Lim, Josefa Llanes Escoda, and Jose Abad Santos.

The BSP said it has tapped the Reserve Bank of Australia for the production of the polymer banknotes.
