Camp Olivas, Pampanga—Two persons were killed, including an aspirant for councilor, in San Simon, Pampanga while another was seriously injured when they were waylaid by unidentified heavily armed men along the Ninoy Aquino Byway at Barangay San Miguel yesterday.

Police Major Jessie James Domingo, San Simon police chief, identified the fatalities as Rogelio Esguerra Salvador, Jr., 42, candidate for councilor.

Critically injured was the victims’ driver, Arnel Caparas.

The victims, according to Domingo, were on board a sport utility vehicle on their way to Brgy. San Miguel when their vehicle was strafed at around 7 a.m.

Domingo said both Salvadors suffered multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies and died on the spot while Caparas was rushed to nearby hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Roadblocks and similar police checkpoints were established in primary and secondary roads within the town of San Simon.

“We are still facing a blank wall as to the motive of the incident,” Domingo said.
