Monsour: Time to pick best leader

With six months to go before the 2022 national elections, it’s time for Filipinos to think deeply and pick a leader who can bring the country out of its myriad problems, Partido Reporma senatorial candidate Monsour del Rosario said Saturday.

If Filipinos don’t pick the right President, the country cannot hope to emerge from the many problems it is currently facing, Del Rosario said, as he endorsed the candidacy of Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and his running mate Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

In an interview with Jun Albino and Norman Jabagat on Magnum Radio 99.9 in Cagayan de Oro City, the former congressman, national athlete and movie star said a leader like Lacson has the “kakayahan, katapatan, katapangan” (competence, honesty, courage) to navigate the Philippines out of this “very crucial period” under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Del Rosario noted that Lacson is currently at Pag-asa Island in Palawan for a scheduled visit with the Armed Forces Western Command, who will brief the chairman of the Senate Committee on National Defense on issues concerning the West Philippine Sea.

Lacson will also talk with the fisherfolk at Pag-asa Island, which the senatorial candidate said exemplified the Partido Reporma chairman’s commitment to face the country’s challenges head on.

“Mag-isip po tayo mabuti, 6 months to go bago ang eleksyon, kailangan po natin makapili ng leader na tutugon sa dami ng ating problema. Kapag hindi po tayo nakapili ng saktong leader, hindi tayo makalabas sa mga problema, kaya si President Ping Lacson ang pag-asa natin ngayon, at very crucial ang mangyayari sa ating bansa (after the elections),” Del Rosario said.

As for his agenda once elected to the Senate, the former taekwondo champion said he would continue to champion sports and youth development while solidly standing behind Partido Reporma’s reformist advocacies, especially on illegal drugs and corruption.

“I just want to do the right thing and offer fresh ideas at bagong pananaw, at maka-contribute para malutas ang ating problema. I want to make Pinoys proud and have dignity again. Sanay po tayo sa challenges, and I will always rise to it. Pagsisilbihan ko po kayo nang tapat at maayos, just watch me perform, and I will not let you down,” Del Rosario said.
