The Bureau of Immigration (BI) ordered the deportation of a Taiwanese national long wanted by authorities in Taipei for drug trafficking and possession of guns and other deadly weapons.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 45-year-old Yang Chuan Yi will be expelled following his arrest in Tanza, Cavite by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit in coordination with the Tanza Municipal Police Station.

Morente said the arresting agents were armed with a warrant of deportation which was issued by the BI board of commissioners in August 2016 along with the order for his summary deportation.

Yang, however, eluded arrest until informants tipped the BI on his whereabouts.

According to BI-FSU acting chief Rendell Ryan Sy, the Taiwanese fugitive is an overstaying and undocumented alien who had hidden in the country for eight years.  Records show that he last arrived as a tourist in May 2013, and have been in hiding since.

Sy said Yang has been on Taiwan’s most wanted list since March 2014 when a warrant for his arrest was issued by the New Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office initiating an investigation into his alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking.

Another warrant was reportedly issued against Yang by the same prosecutor’s office based on complaints for possession of guns, ammunition, and bladed weapons that were filed against him.

The Taiwanese is presently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending implementation of the order for his deportation and will be barred from entering the country.
