The Immigration Bureau extended the COVID-19 travel ban from 10 countries to August 31, according to a Sunday afternoon 24 Oras News Alert.

-Bangladesh,

-Sri Lanka,

-Oman,

-United Arab Emirates,

-Indonesia,

-Malaysia, and

-Thailand.

The travel restriction was extended based on an Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases resolution, and was part of the effort to control the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

Morente meanwhile said they had asked the airlines not to fly in foreigners from the countries covered by the travel ban extension.

Filipinos flying in from these countries through the Foreign Affairs Department’s repatriation program would be allowed to enter the country, provided they test negative in a swab test and go through the mandatory 14-day facility-based quarantine when they arrive.
