In line with the relentless campaign of the government against illegal drugs, operatives of National Bureau of Investigation-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) arrested a man in Paranaque City for selling marijuana packets worth P25,000.

NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director Eric Distor identified the subject as Joren Mari Bechayda, who was presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor of Paranaque City.

Distor said a certain alias “Corine” and his cohorts were allegedly engaged in the sale of dangerous drugs in the cities of Paranaque and Pasay, in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Acting on the information received, NBI-NCR operatives hatched an entrapment operation on July 28, 2021 in coordination with PDEA and PNP to arrest Corine and his cohorts, who were allegedly selling substantial quantities of Kush, a pure or hybrid Cannabis indica and considered an illegal drug.

The informant sent a text message to the suspect for an order of Kush.

Joren instantly responded that he had Kush in his possession for sale.

A poseur-buyer then agreed to meet with Joren at 5A Cesar Virata St., Classic Homes, BF Homes, Paranaque City. At around 5:34 p.m., the suspect arrived and alighted from a white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV with plate number WC 9561. Willie Casas

He then approached the informant and the poseur-buyer and took out 12 packs of transparent plastic sachets containing substances with remarkable resemblance to Kush, which cost P25,000. The suspect then handed the Kush to the poseur-buyer and received the marked money afterwards.

With this, NBI operatives approached the Subject, introduced themselves, their authority, and frisked the suspect. The latter was informed of his constitutional rights and was placed under arrest.

Seized items during the operation, which include a total of 15 packs of plastic sachets containing substances with resemblance to Kush and the marked money, were inventoried in the presence of the suspect, local barangay, and media representative.

The 15 packs of plastic sachets containing substances with resemblance to Kush, upon examination of NBI-Forensic Chemist, tested positive for the presence of Marijuana, a dangerous drug.
