DOJ: Peter Lim in Interpol’s red list since 2019

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Tuesday revealed that suspected drug lord Peter Go Lim has been the subject of an international manhunt since he was included in the “red notice” list of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in March 2019.

Guevarra cited information from the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime which showed that Lim was placed in the list months after a Makati City court ordered his arrest for a drug case.

A person placed under a red notice is considered a fugitive, according to the Interpol.

“But [there is] still no info on his whereabouts,” Guevarra said.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año over the weekend said Lim, who was earlier ordered arrested in August 2018 due to a case for conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading, could have already left the country.

On Monday, the Bureau of Immigration said there was no record indicating that Lim has recently left the country.

Lim’s passport expired in 2019 and his last foreign trip was in 2017, the Department of Justice said.

Lim faces two counts of violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 pending before a Makati court.

Guevarra said it was possible that Lim might have slipped out of the country through the backdoor “in the southern border” since the Philippines has “a very extensive coastline.”
