Magnitude 5.8 quake rocks Occ. Mindoro

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake rocked Occidental Mindoro and was felt in Metro Manila Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology said the quake occurred 11 kilometers northeast of Abra de Ilog town at 9:09 a.m.

Of tectonic origin, the tremor had a depth of 110 kilometers.

Intensity 5 was felt in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro; Calamba City, Laguna, and Calaca, Batangas.

Intensity 4 was felt in Malvar and Lemery in Batangas; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Mendez and Tagaytay City in Cavite; andLimay, Bataan.

Batangas’ Agoncillo, Cuenca, Talisay and Lipa City; Cavite’s General Trias and Dasmarinas, and Metro Manila’s Muntinlupa City and Makati City reported intensity 3.

Intensity 2 was reported in Caloocan City and Marikina City; Olongapo City, Zambales; Cavite City; Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Taysan, Batangas; Batangas City; Lucena City, Dolores and Mulanay towns in Quezon province; and in Binangonan Rizal.

San Mateo, Rizal, and San Francisco, Quezon had intensity 1.
