Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has expressed his pride and gratitude after the city of Manila took the lead in the National Capital Region when it registered over 94 percent completion of the city government’s campaign against measles in record time.

The mayor also thanked the Department of Health, which cited the efforts and achievement of the Manila local government unit with regard to the anti-measles campaign and thus ranked it as the leading LGU in the NCR with regard to the successful measles vaccination program.

“I thank and am so proud of our health personnel led by our tireless Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold ‘Poks Pangan for their efforts and dedication to duty,” Domagoso said.

Domagoso said that in just a matter of more or less 10 days, the city government was able to vaccinate more than 127,000 children, which was beyond expectation.

The campaign, dubbed, ‘Tsikiting Ligtas,’ is also being used by the local government as some sort of a simulation in preparation for the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines.

Domagoso said the city was trying so hard to finish the measles vaccination at the earliest possible time, so that it may focus entirely on the COVID-19 vaccination program which, he said, would hopefully be implemented soon.

As of 2 a.m. of February 20, electronic data processing head Fortune Palileo had reported to the mayor that the total number of individuals who had so far registered with the Manila Vaccination and Immunization app,  https://manilacovid19vaccine.com,  had already reached 88,747.

These individuals, Domagoso said, would be among those who will be prioritized, along with health workers, once the vaccines arrived.
