The Bureau of Customs confiscated more than P500 million worth of imported counterfeit luxury items in a raid of a warehouse along Juan Luna Street in Tondo, Manila.

COUNTERFEIT. The Bureau of Customs successfully raided a warehouse storing an estimated P500 million worth of counterfeit luxury items located at 1017 Juan Luna St. in Tondo Manila on July 6, 2020.

The agency also seized more than half a million pesos worth of shabu from the United States in a FedEx Warehouse in Pasay City.

Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said the raiders entered the warehouse after receiving a complaint.

He said MANLED Legal Consultancy Services, the authorized representative of a luxury retail company globally known as Louis Vuitton, had complained that various counterfeit products were being kept inside the warehouse.

Found inside were replica items bearing the brands Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, Gucci, Balenciaga, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Hermes, Coach, Burberry, Givenchy, Prada, and Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs.

The packages containing the drugs were declared as “gift puzzle game board” and “puzzle game made of cardboard as a gift” bound for Albay and Cabanatuan City.

But sachets containing crystalline substances were found concealed inside the puzzle game boards.

Aside from shabu, the raiders also found in another package from Taiwan two bottles of Methyl Ethyl Ketone, a controlled chemical identified by the PDEA as essential ingredients in the production of shabu.
